In the latest development, seam bowlers, Harshit Rana and Mayank Yadav have been released from the India squad ahead of the second Test match in Pune. Harshit Rana will turn up for Delhi to feature in their next Ranji Trophy match Vs Assam.
As per a report by TOI, the DDCA requested BCCI for the services of Harshit Rana, as they will be without their premium pacer, Navdeep Saini, who has been drafted in the India A squad for the Australia tour.
Rana was a travelling reserve with the India Test team for the 3-match series, but will now get some game time with Delhi as he prepares for the upcoming challenges. Team India have been tracking Rana's progress and they see him as one of their future mainstays in the bowling attack.
The fiery pacer will now lead Delhi's pace attack as the team is under-firing in the current Ranji Trophy season, having accumulated just 4 points from 2 games, and now face a must-win clash against Assam.
Meanwhile, another quick bowler Mayank Yadav has also been released and has been told to get ready for the upcoming T20I series against South Africa, which takes place next month.
Mayank in contention for BGT as well
As per reports, the BCCI are pondering on including Mayank Yadav in their squad for the Border-Gavaskar series. The tearaway pacer was excellent in his debut T20I series against the Bangladesh side and now the selectors are looking at him as the X-factor on the Aussie tour.
With Mohammed Shami unlikely to take any part in the BGT, former players have also urged the Rohit Sharma led side to include Mayank in the side, so that Jasprit Bumrah gets ample support from the other end.
