India Women are all set to take the field again as the ODI & T20I squads for the upcoming white-ball series against West Indies have been announced by the selection committee. Starting December 15, the series will see three T20Is and three ODIs, giving the team a chance to bounce back after recent ups and downs.

Team India Names Squads for T20I & ODI Series vs West Indies

The announcement comes at a crucial time for the team, with plenty to prove after their group-stage exit in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 earlier this year and a tough 3-0 ODI series loss to Australia recently.

The India Women T20I squad has all the familiar names, with Harmanpreet Kaur leading the charge and Smriti Mandhana as her deputy. Jemimah Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh, and Deepti Sharma are also a part of the squad, and they bring plenty of experience and firepower.

However, it’s not just about the experienced players. Youngsters like Sajana Sajeevan, Priya Mishra, and Titas Sadhu have been given the nod in the T20I squad which shows the selectors’ intent to build for the future. Richa and Uma Chetry will handle wicketkeeping duties.

After their disappointing T20 World Cup campaign, this is their first chance to turn things around. Expect the team to come out with all guns blazing.

ODI Squad Packs a Punch

The ODI squad is equally exciting. Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana remain the pillars, while Harleen Deol and Rodrigues bring depth to the middle order. With Tejal Hasabnis and Deepti Sharma balancing the all-rounder department, the batting lineup looks dependable.

In the bowling unit, the pace trio of Renuka Singh Thakur, Titas Sadhu, and Saima Thakor will be key. The spinners, led by Deepti, Minnu Mani, and Tanuja Kanwer, will have their job cut out on batting-friendly tracks.

India’s ODI form has been shaky, especially after the whitewash in Australia. But their recent 2-1 series win against New Zealand at home gives hope. This series could be their shot at redemption.

Yastika, Shreyanka & Punia Miss Out

Not everything is rosy for Team India. Key players Yastika Bhatia, Shreyanka Patil, and Priya Punia have been sidelined with injuries. Their absence will be felt, but it’s also a chance for new faces to step up and make a mark.

The DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai will host the T20I series on December 15, 17 & 19 whereas the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara will be the venue for the three ODIs on December 22, 24 & 27.
