India Women captain Harmanpreet Kaur has been dealt an unfortunate injury blow.

According to an official update from Melbourne Renegades, Harmanpreet has been ruled out of WBBL 08 due to a back issue.

The Indian batter had already missed Renegades' first two matches due to her international commitments and her absence for the rest of the tournament will come as a huge blow for the franchise.

Harmanpreet has been in impressive form and she is the reigning WBBL player of the tournament .

Melbourne Renegades General Manager, James Rosengarten, reflected on the situation and suggested that Eve Jones will replace the Indian star for the remainder of the season.

“Harmanpreet was fantastic for us last season and we were looking forward to having her as part of our squad again this year, but unfortunately she has been ruled out through injury."

Harmanpreet recently led her country to a prestigious Asia Cup 2022 win against Sri Lanka Women. She also helped her country to a silver medal during the Commonwealth games in Australia earlier this year.
