India all-rounder Hardik Pandya won hearts in India’s 21-run win against Oman at the Asia Cup 2025 with an acrobatic fielding effort. Although he was run out for just one run, Pandya’s contributions with the ball and in the field earned him the ‘Impact Player of the Match’ award.
Taking the new ball, Pandya bowled 4 overs for just 26 runs and picked up one key wicket. However, it was his sharp fielding that left fans and experts impressed.
Hardik Pandya Passes On His Impact Medal
In the 18th over of Oman’s innings, Hardik Pandya took a stunning catch to dismiss the top-scorer Aamir Kaleem on 64 off 46 balls. Oman needed 40 runs to win at that time, with Kaleem and Hammad Mirza pulling off a 93-run partnership.
However, Pandya’s awareness near the boundary line and alertness in the field played a crucial role in keeping India ahead in the match. Eventually, India restricted Oman to 167 and won by 21 runs.
For his heroics on the field, Hardik Pandya was awarded the Impact Player of the Match award by team management. After receiving the medal, Pandya surprised everyone by giving it to India’s training assistant Dayanand Garani.
He complimented Daya for his relentless effort behind the scenes, particularly for the impact he has had on improving the team’s fielding standards.
“I think we had a very good game today as a group. We were tested. It was hot. But at the same time, everyone came in and played their role. I would like to give this to Daya from my side. Jo itni mehenat karte ho, fielding mein mehenat karate ho (the hard work you do, the hard work you make us do), thank you for that," Hardik said.
With this thoughtful gesture and his overall performance, Hardik Pandya again proved why he is not only a star on the field, but he is also a leader that sees the value in all members of the team.
Pandya Pumps Up India Ahead Of Pakistan Clash
Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya also advised his team to focus solely on cricket and treat the upcoming clash against arch-rivals Pakistan as a normal game.
"On 21st, it’s just another game. Let’s play the game when it’s played. Not before it. Good luck, guys,” he added.
India will compete against Pakistan in a Super Four clash of the Asia Cup 2025 scheduled on Sunday, September 21, at the Dubai International Stadium.
With PCB orchestrating unnecessary drama over the ‘no handshake’ row, the upcoming Indo-Pak game will remain in the spotlight.
