Indian cricket has moved on from its superstars Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the Test and T20I formats. The young team performed quite well in whites without them, and now there are rumours that the duo would let go of the ODI format as well.
However, now Rishabh Pant has shared a video of India's celebration after the Champions Trophy 2025 win. In a video posted on Rishabh Pant's official X handle, Indian players are seen celebrating their win in the dressing room and on the ground. The video contains a lot of comments from Pant and other Indian players, but the one at the end of Rohit Sharma grabbed the limelight.
Rishabh Pant Posts Video Of Celebration Of Champions Trophy 2025 Win
In the video, Rohit Sharma is asked about his retirement, and in reply, Rohit, in his typical Mumbai avatar, said in Hindi - "Har Baar Jeetenge Toh Mai Retirement Thodi Lete Rahunga." It implies that he would not take retirement after every ICC trophy win, referring to his decision to leave T20Is after the T20 World Cup 2024.
Thus, going by those comments made early in 2025, Rohit Sharma has no plans of retiring from the ODI format and would play for two more years. He has been brilliant in the format as well, and his aggressive batting at the top of the order helped India reach the final of the 2023 World Cup and win the Champions Trophy 2025.
His leadership has also been top-notch in white ball formats over the years, and it seems that he is keen to finish his career with a World Cup win in 2027. Rohit Sharma's last appearance for India was in the Champions Trophy 2025 final, and he is likely to be back as a captain for the ODI series against Australia in October.
