On Sunday, May 18, Gujarat Titans will lock horns against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Meanwhile, they have something special in line when they face Lucknow Super Giants on May 22 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. It is worth noting that for their game against LSG, the Shubman Gill-led side have planned something special as they are all set to wear a special 'Lavender' jersey.
GT have planned a special tribute for citizens who have defeated cancer and to create an awareness regarding the same, the Gujarat Titans will wear a lavender themed jersey. The GT social media team updated the fans about the same and put a post on Twitter.
"Strength isn't just in the game, it's for standing in for a cause 🙌 Join us on 22nd May as our Titans don the lavender jersey to support the fight against cancer!," wrote GT on their Twitter handle.
Gujarat Titans Started The Trend In 2023
It will be the third straight year when Gujarat will be wearing their lavender jersey. The trend was started in 2023 when Hardik Pandya used to lead the side. The one time winners wore the lavender jersey for the first time in their match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
Although, it is worth noting that Gujarat aren't the first team in IPL to pay a tribute to cancer victims by wearing lavender. Delhi Capitals were the first team to do so in 2015.
"100 cancer survivors and patients are invited to see this match and be the part of this occasion. @DelhiDaredevils will wear lavender dress."
Talking about the present scenario, several teams wear a special jersey, as RCB too wore a green jersey in IPL 2025 as an initiative for a green and better world.
