Royal Challengers Bengaluru received a significant boost ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 as their latest acquisition, Krunal Pandya, showcased impressive form by leading DY Patil Red to a four-wicket victory over CAG in the 19th DY Patil Cup semi-final.

The match, held at DY Patil Cricket Stadium in Navi Mumbai on March 5, saw Pandya excel with both bat and ball. RCB secured Krunal Pandya's services for INR 5.75 crore after an intense bidding war with Rajasthan Royals at the IPL 2025 mega auction.

With a base price of INR 2 crore, Pandya's all-round abilities made him a coveted asset, and RCB eventually outbid RR to bolster their squad. The team, led by Rajat Patidar, will be encouraged by Pandya's recent performance as the IPL is knocking at the door.

Krunal Pandya's Impactful Performance Sparks IPL Show

Krunal Pandya played a vital role in DY Patil Red's triumph, contributing significantly with both ball and bat. Leading the side as captain, Pandya delivered an economical spell, picking up a crucial wicket for just 20 runs in his four overs at an impressive economy rate of 5.00. His dismissal of Abdul Basith via leg-before-wicket was instrumental in restricting CAG to a modest total of 90 runs in 18.1 overs.

With the bat, Pandya steadied the chase after a shaky start by his team. Coming in at a critical juncture, he scored an unbeaten 35 off 24 balls, including four boundaries and a six, boasting a strike rate of 145.83. His composed innings guided DY Patil Red to victory in just 11.5 overs, ensuring a spot in the final of the prestigious tournament.

DY Patil Red’s Commanding Display

Sent to bowl first after losing the toss, DY Patil Red’s bowling unit, led by Puneet datey, displayed exceptional discipline. Seamers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Pradyumn Sanan were pivotal, sharing five wickets between them. Puneet Datey's 3-wicket haul for just 12 runs and Bhuvneshwar's double strike dismantled CAG's batting lineup, limiting them to a meagre total.

With Krunal Pandya finding rhythm at the right time, RCB's camp will be optimistic about their chances in the upcoming season, banking on his all-round prowess to make a strong start against KKR on March 22 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
