Chris Gayle is keen on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) reuniting his esteemed trio with Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers at the next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The West Indies giant sent a special hint to his former IPL franchise with a painting featuring his ex-teammates Kohli and De Villiers.

Gayle told RCB to "give people what they want" in the caption to a picture shared on Instagram where the famed trio is visible together on a special painting. RCB's passionate fanbase continues to hold the troika of Gayle, Kohli and De Villiers dear to their hearts and would love a glimpse of them ahead of the IPL 2024.

While Gayle and De Villiers are now retired from playing duties, Kohli is still an active member of the Faf du Plessis-led outfit, which is gunning for its maiden IPL title next summer. The legendary trio played together for over half a decade from IPL 2011 through to IPL 2017 before Gayle moved bases to Punjab Kings (PBKS) and called it quits.

Gayle Wants RCB To Unite Famed Trio

Three years later, De Villiers also retired from all professional cricket at the end of IPL 2021, having given huge service to the franchise as a middle-order stalwart and with his athleticism in the field. De Villiers made a whopping 4,491 runs in 144 matches for RCB in a decade-long career.

Since then, there have been speculations of the South African legend being involved with the setup in coaching or mentoring roles. The great batter has repeatedly expressed his wish to contribute to the side in some form or capacity, but nothing has been finalised to date.

Notably, Gayle's special hint was sent only a year after RCB arranged a special occasion for its fans at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in IPL 2023 and got the trio of Gayle, De Villiers and Kohli joining in the team parade around the iconic venue.

Gayle himself was a bona fide legend with the bat for RCB as the 'Universe Boss' hammered 3,163 runs in 85 matches with five centuries and the best of 175 not out against the now-disbanded Pune Warriors.
