India announce ODI and T20I squads for Australia Tour
BCCI named India’s ODI squad for the Australia tour, with Shubman Gill replacing Rohit Sharma as captain and Shreyas Iyer as vice-captain. Rohit and Virat Kohli return as batters, while Jasprit Bumrah and injured Hardik Pandya miss out. For the T20I squad, Suryakumar Yadav was retained as captain and Shubman Gill as vice-captain. Injured Hardik Pandya misses out, replaced by Nitish Kumar Reddy.
India bags 1st Test win against West Indies with Jadeja show
Ravindra Jadeja emerged as the star in India’s emphatic innings-and-140-run win over West Indies in the first Test at Ahmedabad. The all-rounder struck an unbeaten 104 and later picked up 4/54 to headline India’s dominance. Partnering with Dhruv Jurel (125), Ravindra Jadeja forged a massive 206-run stand that powered India to 448/5 declared after KL Rahul’s century and Shubman Gill’s 50. Earlier, Mohammed Siraj (4/40) and Jasprit Bumrah (3/42) had dismantled West Indies for 162. In the second innings, Jadeja, Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav sealed the collapse, bowling out WI for 146.
Australia seal 2-0 series win with Marsh's help
Mitchell Marsh’s brilliant unbeaten 103 off 52 balls powered Australia to a 2-0 T20I series win over New Zealand at Bay Oval. The skipper struck eight fours and seven sixes, guiding his side through a mid-innings collapse that left them at 93/5. Marsh later shared a match-sealing stand with Sean Abbott to chase 157 with two overs to spare. Earlier, Sean Abbott starred with the ball, claiming 3/25 as New Zealand were restricted to 156/9 despite Tim Seifert’s 48.
Andy Flower replaces Justin Langer as London Spirit head coach
Former England coach Andy Flower has been appointed head coach of the London Spirit men’s team, replacing Justin Langer after a poor season in The Hundred. Flower departs Trent Rockets, where he guided them to the 2022 title during a successful five-year stint. He also brings rich experience from coaching England and helping Royal Challengers Bengaluru clinch their maiden IPL crown in 2025. Slithering interruption during IND-W training session
India Women’s training session ahead of their World Cup clash against Pakistan was briefly interrupted by an unusual visitor, a snake, at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The greyish-brown Garandia, a non-venomous local species, was spotted near the practice area on Friday evening, causing surprise among players. Ground staff quickly ensured the reptile was guided away safely without harm.
