Deepak Chahar has linked up with the Indian team at Lord’s a day prior to the upcoming third Test match against England, even though the Mumbai Indians cricketer is not a part of the travelling group. On Wednesday, July 9; Chahar was spotted training alongside several Indian players at the iconic venue.

As per several reports, he has joined the Indian team as a support player, much like how uncapped spinner Harpreet Brar was roped in by the management ahead of the second Test as spin support.

Incidentally, this is not the first time Team India has sought assistance from a player not part of the travelling group in England. Ahead of the second Test at Edgbaston late last month, the Indian team management invited spin bowler Harpreet Brar to assist the players.

Deepak Chahar, having played 13 ODIs and 25 T20I matches, has otherwise not been considered for national selection since December 2023.

India vs England 3rd Test

The third Test match between England and the visiting Indian team will be played between July 10 and July 14 at Lord’s in London. Team India won the previous Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham by a record margin of 336 runs to level the five-match series 1-1.

England started off the series by pulling off a standard ‘BazBall’ chase, mowing down 371 runs in the final hour of play with five wickets in hand.
