Cricket fans had a flashback to older times on the international stage after the packed crowd at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground came out sprinting on the outfield following the New Year's Test completion between Australia and Pakistan on Saturday, January 6.

The incident is from Day 4 of the emotional fixture, which was David Warner's last for Australia in Test cricket. As the extravagant opener bid farewell to the red-ball format on his home turf and the Test got over with Australia winning by eight wickets, a healthy portion of the crowd came out sprinting towards the playing square.

Thankfully, the ground curators protected the surface, and the security officials ensured that the Fox Sports broadcasting team and players from both sides were safe to conduct the post-match presentation ceremony where Australian skipper Pat Cummins received the Warne-Qadir Trophy after a handsome 3-0 whitewash.

Cummins was also awarded the 'Player of the Series' for his three consecutive fifers during the assignment and an overall tally of 19 scalps in three matches at a jaw-dropping average of 12.00.

The moment, however, was of Warner as the proud son of the soil bid adieu to his much-loved form of the game for Australia after 112 appearances.

The left-hander was greeted with a huge round of applause for his final walk off the familial turf in SCG after he entertained the packed crowd with a delightful knock of 57 off 75 deliveries.

Warner was also given pats on the back along with good wishes even by the Pakistanis as they joined in the ovation given by the crowd and clapped until the left-hander walked past the ropes for the one final time in Test cricket.
