Things have gone downhill for RCB pacer Yash Dayal since lifting the IPL trophy on June 3. First, the stampede on June 4 jolted the franchise, and it was followed by a sexual assault allegation against the left-arm seamer.

For the uninitiated, a woman who claims to have been in a relationship with Yash for five years accused the left-arm seamer of exploiting her mentally and sexually on the pretext of marriage, before backing out of the commitment.

FIR Registered Against Dayal

In the latest development, the same woman has registered an official complaint (FIR) against the 27-year-old. Yash Dayal has been booked under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), as the woman also claimed Yash was having romantic affairs with other women while being in a relationship with her.

The police will now record Yash Dayal's statement and then decide on the course of action. However, trouble is already brewing for the RCB star as his IPL participation stands in jeopardy.

What Do IPL Rules Say About Players With FIRs?

There is no specific law in the BCCI’s code of conduct that mandates the suspension of a player from the IPL solely because an FIR has been registered against them.

While there is no automatic suspension from the IPL due to an FIR, the left-arm seamer can still be penalized by the BCCI.

The BCCI is likely to launch a formal inquiry, during which they will conduct their own investigation and retain the power to suspend a player from the league if found guilty.

In summary, Yash Dayal can still face suspension if the BCCI conducts a formal inquiry, but he will not be ousted from the league just because of an FIR, as there is no formal law regarding this.
