There is still 10 days left for the India Vs England Test series to commence but the visiting Indian side have started their vigorous training to get acclimatise to the English conditions. There is no Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the team and the team leadership has been given to youngster, Shubman Gill.
The first Test of the 5-match series will begin on June 20 at Headingley and prior to the game, the Indian team is leaving no stones unturned to get fit into the red-ball groove after a gruelling IPL season.
Gill's struggles against Bumrah in nets
The team had their second net session on Monday and in a viral video, captain Gill faced off against pace spearhead, Jasprit Bumrah. The pacer is India's best bowler and all eyes were on Gill as he prepared for his maiden Test assignment. However, in tricky windy conditions, Bumrah looked menacing as Gill struggled slightly.
The first ball was an away swinger as the skipper left it comfortably. However, the next ball nipped back in as Gill had no answer to that delivery and somehow managed to fend it away. After that he brought out a solid defensive stroke, but looked a bit fidgety.
India aim to break England jinx under Gill
It has been 18 years since India last won a Test series in England, under the captaincy of Rahul Dravid. However, since then, they have lost on 3 back-to-back tours and drew the 2021 series. This time around, the team lacks experience with Rohit and Kohli both retiring from Tests. However, this provides a brilliant opportunity for young captain Gill to prove his doubters wrong and capture the series.
India, do have a golden chance since England will miss their front-line bowlers for the first Test match and it provides a great chance for India to give the first knockout blow.
