A screenshot allegedly showing Babar Azam condemning the Pakistan Army for the recent terror attack in Pahalgam has gone viral on social media platforms. The post, which appeared soon after India blocked several Pakistani cricketers’ Instagram accounts, quickly drew strong reactions online.
Babar Azam's Viral Story Sparks Outrage
The alleged Instagram story quoted Babar Azam as blaming the Pakistan Army for the Pahalgam terror attack and expressing sorrow over his Instagram account being blocked in India.
"As a cricketer, I have always loved playing in India and I have considered it as my second home. It is unfortunate that my Instagram account was blocked in India. I want to make it absolutely clear that cricketers are not involved in the Pahalgam attack," Babar's alleged Instagram story read.
It stated that Babar considered India his "second home" and accused the military of "sponsoring terrorism" while distancing Pakistani cricketers from involvement in the attack.
"What's happening is the result of the dirty act of Pakistan army. I won't take names but everyone knows who truly holds the power in Pakistan and who continues to protect and support terrorism. To the Pakistan Army, your actions are making innocent Pakistanis suffer. Stop sponsoring terrorism. Pakistan Zindabad."
Did Babar Azam Post The Instagram Story?
On Friday, May 3, India blocked Instagram access to several prominent Pakistani cricketers, including Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Wasim Akram, and others. This digital restriction came in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, which left Indian security forces on high alert and sparked bilateral tensions.
Soon after the account block was reported, screenshots of an alleged Instagram story from Babar began circulating widely across Indian social media pages.
It is important to note that no verified sources or archived versions of Babar Azam’s Instagram account show evidence of such a story ever being posted. Moreover, users outside of India, who still had access to Babar's Instagram, confirmed through social media that no such story appeared on his account during the period in question.
However it is important to mention that there has also been no statement from Babar Azam or the PCB addressing the alleged post.
