The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has imposed a three-year suspension on former India fast bowler S Sreesanth on making remarks concerning Sanju Samson’s exclusion from India’s Champions Trophy 2025 squad. The suspension was decided at KCA’s annual general body meeting on April 30 and publicly confirmed via an official statement on Friday.

Later on the KCA clarified that the notice to Sreesanth was issued not for supporting Sanju Samson but for making false and defamatory comments against the association.

S Sreesanth Breaks Silence

Responding to the suspension, S Sreesanth claimed he has not received any formal notice from the association and learned of the decision only through media reports. The former pacer defended his statements, asserting that he was merely backing a fellow Kerala cricketer.

It is also important to mention that the former cricketer is now waiting for the official communication from the KCA. It is likely indicated that legal recourse will be considered once a formal notice is received.

“I’m not aware of it, Once we see the notice, we will explore our options. I don’t know yet on what grounds or reasons the action is being taken. I was only backing a state cricketer,” he told ANI.

Controversy Not New To Sreesanth

It is important to note that this isn’t the first time Sreesanth has faced disciplinary issues. In 2023, he was served a legal notice by the Legends League Cricket over an on-field spat with Gautam Gambhir

His most serious brush with controversy came in the 2013 IPL spot-fixing scandal, which initially led to a life ban later reduced to seven years by the BCCI following a Supreme Court directive.

Having returned briefly to domestic cricket and later retired in 2023, Sreesanth now finds himself in the spotlight again, with Kerala cricket governance and his personal legacy once more under scrutiny.
