England's left-arm pacer Reece Topley has been ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing five-match T20I series against the West Indies after suffering a knee injury. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed on Thursday that he will be flying back to the UK from St Lucia for further treatment and evaluation.
It is important to mention that, the 30-year-old fast bowler sustained the injury during the first T20I of the series in Barbados on November 9. The incident occurred during Topley's run-up in the fifth over of the match, where he pulled up abruptly.

Despite attempting to continue bowling after a brief rain delay, he managed to deliver only one more ball before leaving the field in visible discomfort. This setback forced him to miss the second and third match of the series also.
This injury has cast a shadow of doubt over Reece Topley's availability for the upcoming tour of India in early 2025, as well as the Champions Trophy scheduled for later that year.
However, the ECB confirmed his absence and announced that Topley would be flying home from St Lucia. The ECB also extended their support for the bowler with a statement.
"We're all with you, Toppers. Reece Topley has been ruled out of the remainder of the T20I series against West Indies through injury, and is to fly home from St Lucia," the statement read.
Topley’s Recent Disciplinary Incident
Adding to his challenges, Topley was fined 15% of his match fee for a breach of the ICC Code of Conduct during the first T20I in Barbados. The incident occurred while England were fielding, with Topley visibly frustrated as he walked back to the pavilion.
In a moment of anger, he grabbed a chair and struck it against the handrail. The ICC charged Topley with a Level 1 offense, resulting in a financial penalty and one demerit point.
