Virat, Rohit For India and Maharaj For South Africa - (Source: AFP)
On Wednesday, August 20, the ICC updated its weekly rankings charts and took to social media platforms to update fans about the recent changes. Notably, South Africa's Keshav Maharaj reclaimed his No.1 spot in the ODI bowlers' ranking after a heroic spell against Australia in the first ODI.
Keshav Maharaj Takes The Top Spot
Notably, Maharaj picked up his career's maiden five-wicket haul and has now displaced Sri Lanka's Maheesh Theekshana as the new No.1. Maharaj now has the rating of 687, while India star Kuldeep Yadav has further dropped a spot to No.3, but still continues to be India's top-ranked bowler in the list.
Apart from Keshav Maharaj, there hasn't been much change in the rankings, particularly for the Indian players, as the Men in Blue haven't played a solitary game since the conclusion of the England series on August 4.
Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli Removed From The List
Interestingly, Rohit Sharma, who jumped a spot in last week's rankings to sit in the 2nd position, found himself out of the top 100 in the latest update. Notably, the ICC didn't provide any explanation, but the India captain is not a part of the ICC's ODI rankings.
Not just Rohit, but Virat Kohli, who was in the top 10, was nowhere to be found on the ranking charts. At present, Shubman Gill tops the batting chart, while Babar Azam has reclaimed the No. 2 spot.
Dewald Brevis Continues With The Good Work
Other than Indian stars, South Africa's Dewald Brevis is having a great time as the South African prodigy jumped eight more places to now rank the 12th best T20I batter in the world.
Following the success in T20Is, Brevis also made his ODI debut, where he started off a six, but got out on the second ball.
