Short steers Strikers’ ship
As of the match, Matthew Short opened with Chris Lynn, but the Strikers had their early stumbles, with Lynn dismissed in the second over and Jason Sangha following him shortly after, leaving the side at 7 for 2 at the end of two overs.
Short then built a steady partnership with Liam Scott and Alex Ross before Scott fell in the eighth over, pushing the Strikers into further trouble at 62 for 3.
However, Short’s partnerships of 55 and 48 runs with Scott and Ross, respectively, helped the team cross the 100-run mark before Stars’ Sam Curran sent the Strikers skipper back in the 14th over.
Though Strikers were struggling to get a solid total on board, useful contributions from Jamie Overton and Henry Thornton, including Thornton’s quickfire 12 off 6 balls, helped the Strikers post a total of 155 at the end of 20 overs, which the Stars will look to chase in their second match of the season.
