ENG vs SA: I am open to bat at any position, says Harry Brook
Brook has been in fine touch for Yorkshire
England's new batting sensation Harry Brook insisted that he is ready to bat at any position given a chance in the England Test team.
Brook has been the talk of the summer so far having set the stage alight with his performances for Yorkshire in the County Championship. He played a vital role in England Lions' innings and 56-run win against the touring South Africa team in the tour match ahead of the three-match Test series. The right handed-batter scored 140 from 170 balls.
When asked his preferred batting position, the Yorkshire-based cricketer responded by saying that he likes to bat at five in the middle-order but is open to bat anywhere even if he is asked to open in Test cricket.
Brook open to bat at any number
Brook averages more than 100 in county cricket
“I feel like I'd do a job batting anywhere to be honest. And if I got an opportunity to play Test cricket opening the batting, obviously I'm going to take it. But I do like batting five. You can come off the field, I've fielded a lot of overs this year as well, so after 120, 130 overs in the field, it's quite nice to just get in, take your whites off and chill for a bit. That's what I like about No.5. If you spoke to other people about batting No.5 they would probably say, I don't like it because I like to get out there straight away. But no, I like coming in and chilling a bit.”
England can try Brook as an opener in the forthcoming South Arica Test series considering the current form of incumbent opener Zak Crawley.
