ENG vs IND | Right now, he is the best there is: Nasser Hussain lauds Jasprit Bumrah

Former England captain Nasser Hussain hailed Jasprit Bumrah by calling him the best all-format bowler in the world right now.

In the first ODI of the ongoing three-match ODI series, Bumrah produced a sensational spell of fast bowling to help his team register an emphatic 10-wicket win over the host England. Bumrah took his second five-wicket haul, which is also his best bowling figure in the 50-over format.

The Indian bowling spearhead was on fire in his opening spell, giving away no freebies to England's top-order batters.

The right-arm quick dismantled England's top order in his first spell with the new ball. Bumrah conceded just nine runs in his first five overs, delivering two maiden overs and taking four wickets. He then returned in the second spell to take two more wickets to register his best bowling figures in ODI cricket- 6/19.

Nasser Hussain speaks on potential challengers to Bumrah's throne

While doing commentary in the first ODI at the Oval, Hussain currently termed Bumrah as the best all-format bowler in world cricket. The cricketer-turned commentator also mentioned Trent Boult, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Jofra Archer as the potential challengers to Bumrah.

"The performance in this game was spectacular, high-class. Some of the balls were absolute jaffas. He has the unusual action and run-up, so the ball does come at you like a thunderbolt. He also swings it both ways - but he does not just swing it. He is quick as well,"

"(Jasprit) Bumrah would have to be the best all-format bowler in world cricket. Who would be the challengers? Maybe Trent Boult, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Jofra Archer when fit. But right now, he is the best there is," Nasser Hussain told Sky Sports.

Nasser credited Indian bowlers for bowling outstandingly well in the opening ODI of the series and asked England to not switch on the panic button.

"I don't think you can be overly critical of England's batters. Sometimes you just have to say that it's wonderful bowling. Today was a day to be a bowler, and England's batters were found wanting - but it is absolutely not the time to panic in any way at all,"

The ex-English batter came in support of the new management and new white-ball captain by saying that the team will need the patience to adapt to the new skipper Jos Buttler and head coach Matthew Mott's ideas.
