Notably, during the course of the match, Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik surpassed the likes of MS Dhoni and Adam Gilchrist to achieve a major landmark in T20I cricket.

ENG vs IND: Karthik oldest keeper to 4-plus T20I dismissals

The seasoned Indian cricketer snared three catches and affected one stumping during India’s triumphant run at Southampton’s Rose Bowl. In doing so, the Tamil Nadu legend became the oldest wicketkeeper in T20I’s full-member history to affect four or more dismissals in a single game.

At the age of 37 years and 36 days, Karthik went past former Indian captain MS Dhoni who achieved the same at the age of 37 years and 1 day. Previously, legendary Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Adam Gilchrist held the record for more than a decade after he had affected four dismissals in 2007, at the age of 36 years and 27 days.

Repeated chances to the battle-hardened campaigner suggests that he might well be favoured to keep wickets at the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia as well.
