ENG vs IND | 1st ODI | Performance Indicator Judgment

After a convincing performance in the T20I series, the Indian flag kept flying high in the first ODI against England. The hosts had absolutely no reply to the lethal Indian pace attack.

Indian won the toss and opted to field first on a pitch that looked pretty greenish, especially for an opening batter’s liking. The decision by Rohit Sharma was backed by the fast bowling unit as they dismantled the English top order in a matter of overs.

The English batting failed to revive from the initial shock and were bundled out by the visitors for a mere 110 runs n 25.2 overs. The Indian batting chased down the target quite comfortably with 10 wickets in hand and about 31.2 overs to spare in the match.

While the dominance of the Indian bowlers in the match is evident from the scorecard, let us apply the Performance Indicator judgment to find out the impact the players had in the match.

CF- CF stands for Contribution Factor. This measures the contribution of a particular player to his team’s performance in a match. In the case of bowlers, the lower the CF the better.

PI- PI stands for Performance Indicator. This is measured by taking into account the CF of the players in a match.

So, Jasprit Burmah is the best player of the match as per PI, by a big margin. The fact that he practically destroyed the English batting leaves no doubt about the verdict that PI has given us.
