ENG vs IND | Mohammed Shami reaches 150 wickets in ODIs

Jasprit Bumrah’s opening gambit at The Oval floored the English top-order in the first ODI. His teammate Mohammed Shami also piled on the hosts’ misery with early wickets. The 31-year-old speedster dismissed Ben Stokes for a golden duck and then removed a well-settled Jos Buttler from the crease.

Overall, Shami finished with 3-31 from his seven overs, providing perfect assistance to his new-ball partner Bumrah at the top.

Notably, his three-wicket haul against England today took his ODI tally past 150 wickets. The cricketer now has 151 wickets in his ODI register after 80 matches.

Shami has also become the third joint-fastest to get to 150 wickets in the format, equalling Afghanistan’s enigma machine Rashid Khan for the record. He has bettered active New Zealand pacer Trent Boult and former Australian speed gun Brett Lee, who reached the milestone in 81 and 82 matches, respectively.

Mitchell Starc continues to top the elite list, as he had scalped his 150th wicket in his 77th game. Here is a look at the five quickest bowlers, in terms of ODIs played, to get to 150 wickets:
