One of England's greatest-ever player, Sir Geoffrey Boycott has undergone successful surgery for Throat Caner, as per an update by her daughter, Emma Boycott.

This was the second time in his life that Boycott has faced Throat Cancer, the first being in 2002. The legendary cricketer was informed about his illness last month, and after initial diagnosis, Boycott underwent intensive Chemotheraphy. He eventually credited his recovery to the love and support of his wife Rachael and daughter Emma.

The new of the successful surgery was posted on Boycott's social media handle, which stated that he has recovered from the procedure and the surgery was successful.

The 83-year-old played for England from 1964 to 1982. During the period, he amassed 8,114 runs in 108 Tests. He also led England in four Test matches during the 1978 season, and stepped in for the injured regular captain, Mike Brearley.

Apart from an illustrious Test career, Boycott also performed exceedingly well in the domestic cricuit. Playing for Yorkshire, he accumulated more than 48,000 runs, including 151 centuries. Despite the success he achieved on the field, the veteran cricketer waa always marred with health related issues, including quadraple heart bypass surgery in 2018.

This forced him to retire from full-time commentary stints as well.
