In a significant development, England Women have named a 15-member squad for the highly anticipated three-match Metro Bank ODI series against India Women. The series comes at a crucial juncture, serving both as a platform for World Cup preparation.
Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt is confirmed to be fit for the ODI series after missing the final match of the Vitality IT20 series with a groin injury. Her leadership and all-round abilities remain central to England’s World Cup ambitions, and her return is a timely boost for the squad.
Ecclestone Back In The Squad
Left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone returns to the ODI setup after missing the previous series against the West Indies. Widely regarded as one of the most effective spinners, Ecclestone’s inclusion strengthens England’s bowling attack considerably. Her return sees Sarah Glenn omitted from the squad.
Bouchier Recalled To Strengthen Batting Depth
Also making a comeback is batter Maia Bouchier, who adds depth and flexibility to England’s top and middle-order. With competition for batting spots heating up, Bouchier’s form and versatility will be closely watched in this crucial series.
Another significant change is that seamer Lauren Filer, who last played an ODI during the Ashes series earlier this year, is included as she continues her recovery from a knee injury.
Apart from the returns of Ecclestone and Bouchier, the squad remains largely unchanged from the group that faced the West Indies. The selection reflects a desire for continuity ahead of the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup in India.
