In a significant development, the upcoming Duleep Trophy season is all set to be conducted between August 28 and September 15. The much-awaited domestic competition will be played in Bengaluru.
BCCI Opts August-September Window For Duleep Trophy
The Duleep Trophy is one of India's most prestigious domestic tournaments in red-ball cricket. Earlier, it used to involve different zones from across the country, but the previous edition had the players distributed in four different teams, named India A, B, C and D.
But the BCCI decided to revert to the old format in the recently held AGM; so, this year's Duleep Trophy will be an inter-zonal contest, with players from six different parts of India participating in it.
While the South and the West Zones have confirmed a direct semifinal qualification, the East and the Central Zone will take on the North and the North-East Zone in the quarterfinal encounters, set to be played from August 28 to 31, reported Cricbuzz.
The best two sides from the quarterfinals will proceed to the semifinal stage, which will be held from September 4 to 7. The final of the knockout competition is scheduled for September 11. All matches are going to be played at the Centre of Excellence grounds in Bengaluru.

It will be a five-day affair; however, it's unsure if Vidarbha can include Karun Nair in their side, as the batter switched to Karnataka after leading them to the Ranji Trophy title.
