Dubai To Host IPL 2024 Auction In December; Here Are More Details

In a significant development, the IPL 2024 mini auction is all set to take place in Dubai in December later this year. As reported by Cricbuzz, the mini-auction for the marquee event will likely take place between December 15 and 19 right after the second Women's Premier League auction scheduled on December 9. However, unlike the Men's IPL, the auction for the Women's tournament will likely take place in India. 

Although an official word is yet to be released on the matter, December 18 and 19 might be finalised as the dates for the much-awaited IPL mini auction. 

The ten concerned franchises have been informed about Dubai being the frontrunner to host the auction, but the possibility of a plan B can't be ruled out, considering how the event was shifted from Istanbul to Kochi in the eleventh hour. 

As the report says, the trading window for the franchises is still open although the teams are yet to initiate discussions on it. Although the teams got a completely new shape following the mega auction last year, we might see several non-performing players being swapped or released to the auction pool. 

Also, given that the Loksabha elections will take place in the upcoming Indian summer, the BCCI might decide to reschedule the IPL, conducting it in a separate window.
