The Indian squad for the upcoming Asia Cup was announced on Monday, August 21. One of the notable exclusions from the 17-men touring party was wrist-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal.

On Tuesday, Chahal's wife, and popular social media influencer, Dhanashree Verma took to her Instagram account to post a cryptic story with regards to the wrist-spinners axing.

Dhanashree wrote:

"Now I have started to question this on a serious note. If being super submissive & introvert can be harmful for your work growth? Or do we all have to be an extrovert & street smart savvy to grow in life?”

It must all also be noted that Chahal himself took to his Twitter to post two emoticons, implying that "the sun will rise again".

Chahal has been dropped from the squad due to a number of reasons.

Firstly, the 33-year-old has been on a consistent decline in the international arena for as good as 4 years now.

And, that doesn't only apply to one-day cricket only. The wrist-spinner has been equally poor in the shortest format of the game, especially against top-nations, despite his consistent success in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

This is the major reason why he didn't feature in the last two T20 World Cups. In addition to this, Chahal does not offer anything to the team as he is a liability in the field and a genuine No.11 with the bat.

With Kuldeep Yadav forcing his way back thanks to consistent performances, and India look at the greater batting depth, the likes of Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur have been preferred in the set-up.

Speaking of Asia Cup 2023, the continental tournament will start from August 30, and the Men in Blue will open their campaign against arch-rivals, Pakistan on September 02.
