In a significant development, the International Cricket Council (ICC) updated the Women's player rankings this afternoon. The phenomenal rise of several Indian and English cricketers in ODIs is a major highlight of the updated list.

Deepti, Dunkly, Rana Make Significant Progress

Talismanic all-rounder Deepti Sharma emerged as India's match-winner in the first ODI, guiding the visitors to glory with a magnificent fifty. She also slammed a valuable 30*-run knock in the subsequent affair, making significant progress in the batters' rankings.

On the other hand, swashbuckling English batter Sophia Dunkley, who hammered 83 runs in the first ODI, also witnessed a promotion in the batters' chart. While Deepti rose ten spots to the 23rd position, Dunkley moved 24 places up to 52nd on the list.

Meanwhile, stylish batter Smriti Mandhana consolidated her top position in the batters' rankings following two successive useful innings in the ongoing ODI series. Mandhana currently has 727 rating points, only two more than the second-placed Laura Wolvaardt.

Among others, English cricketers, Alice Davidson-Richards and Charlie Dean were among the biggest movers in the latest ICC rankings. Davidson-Richards, who struck 53 runs in the first ODI against India Women, powered herself 40 spots up to number 118, while Dean entered the top ten bowlers' chart, finishing the week as the ninth-ranked player.

Veteran Indian spinner Sneh Rana's impressive outing in the first two ODIs helped her cruise to 21st by moving 12 rungs up in the bowlers' chart. Rana, who bagged three wickets across the first two matches, currently has her career-best ranking (515).

Talking about India and England Women, both teams have given each other a run for their money in the ODI series. With the series levelled one-all, the decider is all set to be played today at the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street.
