David Warner Set To Join FOX Sports Commentary Team After Retirement

Australian stalwart, David Warner is set to embark on a new journey as a commentator for FOX Sports following his retirement, stepping in to fill the significant void left by the late Shane Warne and Andrew Symonds.
Warner ready for commentary stint at FOX Sports
While addressing the media at the SCG during a monumental $1.5 billion television rights deal announcement with Channel Seven, Foxtel CEO Patrick Delany acknowledged the irreplaceable nature of Warne and Symonds.
He highlighted that after considerable thought, Warner was chosen for his resilient and dynamic approach to the game. Delany described Warner as a 'brawler' and a 'fighter,' noting his ability to bring excitement to the cricket commentary scene.
“It’s not possible to replace Shane and Andrew. We’ve thought long and hard about what we might do with the coverage. I think adding a commentator from the current crop [of players] to replace those two, you’d probably have to say Dave Warner is the name. He is a brawler, he’s a fighter. He’s exciting,” said Delany.
Warner expressed his excitement about the new role. The 36-year-old was eager to contribute significantly to the Fox Cricket team over the coming year while continuing his playing career.
He further expressed elation at remaining closely connected to the sport he loves and has contributed so much to during his illustrious career.
“I’m delighted to have been given the opportunity to join the Fox Cricket team. I look forward to making an impact where I can over the next 12 months. I’ll continue to play and it’s great to know that once I finish my career, I’ll still be involved in the game that I love, and the game that has given me so much,” added Warner.
