My girls told me they'd love to watch me play at home and in the BBL

After weeks of speculation, Australian opener, David Warner signed with Sydney Thunder for the upcoming two editions of the Big Bash League (BBL).

Warner has earlier represented the Thunder in seasons one and three and is making his league comeback after nine years. He last played in the BBL in 2013, with rival Sydney Sixers.

He has played 96 Tests, 133 ODIs, and 91 T20Is for Australia.

Speaking about his decision to play in BBL, Warner credited his daughters, who played a significant role in his re-signing with Thunder. Interestingly, his daugthers — Ivy Mae, Indi Rae and Isla Rose — are yet to witness Warner play in the BBL.

"My 'girls' have told me that they'd love to watch me play at home and in the BBL. It will be great for us to be a part of the BBL as a family, and it is something that I am really looking forward to sharing with them.”

Wanted to leave a legacy for future Australian generations: Warner

The 35-year-old preferred BBL over the cash-rich International League T20 (ILT20), because he wanted to leave a legacy for the upcoming home-grown players.

"Yes, these franchise cricket teams do come hard at you but at the end of the day, it's upon myself to give back and make sure that our next generation is following in my footsteps and the rest of the (Australian) guys."
