Chinese cricketers to get assistance from CAB

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) will help China to develop cricket in their country. CAB President Avishek Dalmiya claimed that China is taking its cricket “very seriously” and decided to extend cricketing relations with the country after receiving a proposal from the Chinese Consul General.


CAB President praises rise of cricket in China

China Consul General Zha Liyou was part of a three-member Chinese delegation that met the CAB President at BC Roy Clubhouse on Monday, August 22. The meeting featured their discussions to establish cricketing relations with the association.

After the meeting, Dalmiya confirmed that they will be helping China in their development of cricket. He added that the association has always helped Bhutan cricket and the Bangladesh Cricket Board. Dalmiya said:

“A Chinese delegation had come to CAB seeking our cooperation for the development of cricket in Chongqing City. We have assured our cooperation as we believe in the philosophy of spreading cricket globally and it is encouraging to see China taking the initiative to play the game”.

“We have always assisted Bhutan cricket, Bangladesh Cricket Board. We have various exchange programmes with Bangladesh. They (China) want their kids to come here. Their coaches can come to take training from us. China is taking it very seriously”.

As per the proposal, China is aiming for the introduction of coaches as well as to stage several friendly matches. They proposed to sign a MOU with CAB through which they can send their aspiring cricketers to Kolkata for training purposes.
