The Champions Trophy 2025 is about to start in about a week. All the eight teams participating in the tournament are ready for the tournament to get on the way and give their best to win the coveted title.
One of the top contenders for the trophy is Australia. However, they suffered some major setbacks, with some of their key players ruled out of the tournament due to injury and Marcus Stoinis announcing retirement from ODI cricket. In what comes as the latest development, Cricket Australia have announced their squad for the upcoming two-match ODI series against Sri Lanka.
The squad is a major hint towards the players who might replace the unavailable players in the Champions Trophy 2025 squad.

Cummins, Hazlewood, Marsh and Stoinis' Replacements Hinted
Notably, the teams can announce a 15-member squad for the Champions Trophy 2025. However, Australia have announced a 16-member squad for the series. But the squad has some major hints about what their unit for the grand tournament might look like.
Jake Fraser-McGurk has replaced Mitchell Marsh in the squad. Marsh is a top order who is known for his aggressive batting, so, JFM could make it into the final squad for the tournament.
Sean Abbott, Ben Dwarshuis, Spencer Johnson and Tanveer Sangha to audition of the final three spots. Besides Marsh, Cummins, Hazlewood and Stoinis will also not be available for the Champions Trophy 2025. So, two pacers and an all-rounder's place is avaliable.
Australia will be looking to test all the four players for these three spots during the Sri Lanka series. Which of these three players make a cut will depend on how they perform in the series.

Steve Smith is currently leading the team in the Test series in Sri Lanka. The squad that has been announce for the ODI series does not have a designated captain. There is a chance that Cricket Australia might handover the responsibility to the Aussie star for the series and also the Champions Trophy 2025.
