After a big jolt to the Chennai Super Kings in form of Mukesh Chaudhary getting ruled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) with a lower back injury, the side has announced another left-armer as his replacement. Akash Singh, a 20-year-old pacer from Rajasthan has been officially brought into the squad of the yellow army.

Singh previously represented Rajasthan Royals in the 2021 season of the league where he managed to feature in one game for the franchise. Bowling four overs, he went for 39 runs which turned out to be his only encounter in the cash-rich extravaganza.

IPL's Official release stated:

Coming back to Chaudhary, the left-arm pacer was fantastic for the Chennai-based side in the previous edition as he picked up 16 wickets during the entire course of his maiden season.

Singh who is Rajasthan-born has been a part of the Indian U-19 side for the 2020 edition and has featured in 9 T20I games along with 9 List-A games in the domestic tournament.

Moreover, he joins the side for a base price of 20 Lakhs which the franchise is ready to shell out to acquire his services.

Apart from Mukesh, New Zealand's Kyle Jamieson has been sidelined from the tournament as South Africa's Sisanda Magala is brought in his place.
