In what comes as heartbreaking news for the Chennai Super Kings fans, left-arm pacer Mukesh Chaudhary has been ruled out of the entire edition with a recurring back injury that he sustained last year.

The pacer was influential with the ball picking wickets up front with the moving deliveries that helped his side to generate a positive start. Also, he was one of the shining lights for the franchise previously as the pacer got some crucial breakthroughs in an otherwise disappointing season for the side.

The news comes a day before the opening game of the 2023 edition as CSK take on Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Moreover, another worrying news is that the side's skipper MS Dhoni is suffering from a potential knee issue which could bar him from playing the first game.

With 16 wickets from 13 matches, Chaudhary was a threat with the ball as the left-armer was stepped up in the absence of lead pacer Deepak Chahar in the previous edition.

CSK Plagued with injuries

Previously, Kyle Jamieson was replaced by Sisanda Magala after the former was laid low by a back injury.

Talking about Mukesh, there were rumours of him recovering but the CEO of the side Kasi Viswanathan disclosed that they do not have much hope for him to recover in time.
