On Monday, August 4, the West Indies registered their second straight series defeat at home. Notably, Pakistan, which were on a three-match T20Is tour to the Caribbean, scripted a 13-run win in the third T20I to win the series 2-1.

West Indies Script Unwanted Record

With the defeat, it was West Indies' 48th T20I loss at home, and they surpassed Zimbabwe to enter an unwanted list. Notably, Windies now have the most defeats at home by a team in T20Is.

Windies have 48 defeats at home, one more than Zimbabwe. The Shai Hope-led side played 108 T20Is at home. Here is the complete list of teams with the most T20I defeats at home.

  • 48 - West Indies (played - 108)
  • 47 - Zimbabwe (played - 70)
  • 41 - Rwanda (played - 59)
  • 41 - South Africa (played - 84)
  • 41 - New Zealand (played - 102)
  • 40 - Sri Lanka (played - 68)

Things are Not Right for West Indies Cricket

The West Indies Cricket team is going through a tough time as the Shai Hope-led side have lost seven of their last eight matches. Prior to the Pakistan series, the West Indies hosted Australia, where they suffered a whitewash and lost 0-5 in the series. Further, in the recently concluded tour against Australia, their star player Andre Russell bid adieu to the game after the second T20I.

Further, the active cricketers are also not up to the mark, as star batter Roston Chase was retired out in the 3rd T20I vs Pakistan. The incident occurred just before the 18th over of the West Indies' innings. Meanwhile, Chase became the first cricketer to be retired out in International cricket.

We have seen it in leagues like the IPL, where MI asked Tilak Verma to return to the dugout, but in international cricket, it occurred for the first time.
