County Championship 2022 Division II | Glamorgan vs Leicestershire | Match Preview

In their respective 5th round matches of the County Championship 2022, Glamorgan will face the challenge of Leicestershire from May 5 to 8 at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff.

Glamorgan are at fourth position in the points table with just 1 win in 4 appearances and 51 points under their belt. Although their last league game ended as a draw, it was a thriller with all the results possible in the final few overs.

Marnus Labuschagne was the pick of the batters with scores of 130 and 85 in both the innings. Both Michael Hogan and Michael Neser contributed with the ball in hand, with 4 wickets each to their name.

Ahead of this game, Billy Root has been added to the squad after smashing a century in the South Wales Premier Cricket League on Saturday. The bowling all-rounder, Andy Gorvin, has replaced spin King Prem Sisodiya. Also, the experienced seamer Timm van der Gugten will not be a part of this game due to hamstring concerns.

On the other hand, Leicestershire are languishing at the bottom of the table with no wins in 4 league matches. In their last outing, they faced a shattering loss to Middlesex by 10 wickets.

Ben Mike returned with a 99 and a 4-wicket haul, while Wiaan Mulder was impressive with a half-century.

Due to a hand injury, Captain Colin Ackermann will miss out on this fixture. However, the likes of Rishi Patel and Scott Steel have been added to the squad after they scored a century in the 2nd XI fixture last week. Callum Parkinson is likely to lead the side against Glamorgan.

Both sides last met at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, with Glamorgan securing a dominating victory by 291 runs.
