County Championship 2022 Division Two | Sussex vs Middlesex | Match Preview

The struggling Sussex team will face the in-form Middlesex team in the County Division II fixture at County Ground in Hove.

Sussex have no wins in 4 appearances and stand at sixth place on the points table. Their last fixture ended as a draw against Durham. In the bowling unit, Mason Crane, Aaron Beard and Tom Clark were the key wicket-takers for the team.

The Indian batter Cheteshwar Pujara was again proficient to hit his second double century of this season. Along with him, Mohammad Rizwan and Tom Haines have been the other notable contributors with the bat.

The experienced pacers Ollie Robinson and George Garton have made a return to the team’s squad for this fixture. Their presence will certainly provide a chance for the team to secure their first victory of this season.

Steven Finn will still be unavailable as he continues to recover from the knee injury. The likes of Jofra Archer and Fynn Hudson-Prentice are continuing their rehabilitation program.

On the other hand, Middlesex mark their presence in the third position of the points table with 2 wins in 3 league matches. They are coming into this game after winning their last fixture against Leicestershire by 10 wickets.

Mark Stoneman was the key contributor for the team in both the innings, with a century in the 1st innings. In the bowling unit, it was a combined reasonable effort from the likes of Shaheen Afridi, Toby Roland Jones and Ethan Bamber.

The team has announced the squad for this fixture, and the pacer Tom Helm is said to be suffering from a sore side. In place of him, Blake Cullen comes into the side. Along with Ishaan Kaushal who has earned a call-up for the first time and has replaced Toby Roland Jones (rested).

The team will still be without their seasoned campaigners, Tim Murtagh and Stephen Eskinazi.
