IPL 2022 | DC vs SRH | Match 50 Preview, Predictions, Probable XI, CREX XI

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will be looking to put their two-match losing streak behind them when they take on Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 50th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 on Thursday (May 05) at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.

Delhi Capitals, who started their IPL 2022 campaign on a high note, saw a gigantic dip in the team's performance as the tournament progressed and currently find themselves in a state where they need to win almost all of their remaining matches to remain in contention for the playoffs berth. However, their misfiring middle-order has finally stepped up and started scoring runs, which could be a massive relief for Rishabh Pant and co.

In the bowling department, Kuldeep Yadav has been their most consistent bowler, and the team would be expecting more from Mustafizur Rahman and Axar Patel, who have failed to pick wickets on a consistent basis.

Heading into this game on the back of a narrow six-run defeat, Delhi Capitals would want to return to winning ways and climb up in the points table. Currently, with 4 wins from 9 matches, they are sitting at the 7th spot of the standings.

Sunrisers Hyderabad, on the other hand, has been marred with inconsistency this season as after winning five in a row, they faltered and lost two back-to-back games.

Kane Williamson-led unit will hope for a better show from their bowlers after their pace attack barring Bhuvaneshwar Kumar were taken to the cleaners in their last game. Chasing 203 against the defending champions, SRH batters failed to live up to the expectations and fell 13 runs short.

However, there were some promising sights for SRH in the last couple of games as Nicholas Pooran returned to form. With 5 wins from 9 games, Hyderabad is placed at the fifth spot on the points table and heading into their next game, they will be hoping to return to winning ways and keep their hopes of featuring in playoffs alive.

Match Details

Match: Delhi Capitals vs Sunrisers Hyderabad, Match 50

Venue: Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai

Date & Time: 5th May at 7:30 PM IST & Local Time

Pitch Report: Both the teams have won all of the games they played at Brabourne Stadium and would be looking to intact this record. The pitch initially offers a lot to the quick bowlers, and batters need to spend some time in the middle before shifting gears. Following the trend, both the captains would look to bowl first after winning the toss. Anything around 180 would be a good total here.

England slip to lowest rankings in Test Format since 1995, Ben Stokes expresses disappointment

In the latest ICC Test rankings, the England cricket team have slumped to the 6th position, which is their lowest since 1995. On the other hand, arch-rivals Australia currently hold pole position with two back-to-back series victories. These ratings cover all the Test matches played since May 2019. The results prior to May 21 carry a 50% weightage, while the subsequent ones have a 100% weightage. In this period, the English team have been a part of 38 Tests, and secured victories in only 13 of them, while drawing nine and losing the remaining ones. In the last 17 Tests matches, the team has won on a single occasion, and have been disappointing with their performances. The newly-appointed England captain Ben Stokes opined on the latest ICC rankings of the team. “Being completely realistic, winning one game in 17 is nowhere near good enough for the people we have in our team,” Stokes was quoted by 'i News'. The dashing all-rounder accepted that the team has not been good enough with their performances. He further added that the team certainly has a scope for improvement, but it can’t happen overnight. “We can look at that and go there is only one to go, which is up. We have not been good enough. That is not a dig at any individual as I have been part of that. As a team we know we have not been good enough, not played to the standard we know we can," the marquee all-rounder reckoned. “It’s about understanding that and fixing it but we need to understand things won’t happen overnight. I can’t just expect it to click and all of a sudden we are No 1 in a year’s time," Stokes concluded. These rankings are also a reflection of their shattering 4-nil loss to Australia in the Ashes 2021/22, and then following it up by 0-1 against West Indies in March. Not surprisingly, England is languishing at bottom of the World Test Championship 2021-23 points table as well with one win in 13 appearances. In their next assignment, England will go up against New Zealand in June and will face South Africa in July. These series will be played on their home soil and will serve as an opportunity for them to improve their position on the WTC table.
