Could Rahane Be A Replacement For Rohit Sharma? : Netizens Tweet After Ajinkya Return's As Vice-Captain

The BCCI has announced Team India's squad for the upcoming Test and ODI series against West Indies, which is scheduled to begin on July 12. The series will kick off with the Test matches at Windsor Park in Dominica and the Queen's Park Oval in Trinidad. The action will then transition to the limited-overs format, starting with the first ODI at Kensington Oval in Barbados.

A notable development in the squad selection is the exclusion of Cheteshwar Pujara from the Test squad, while Yashasvi Jaiswal has earned his place as a new addition. However, the more surprising decision is the reappointment of Ajinkya Rahane as the team's vice-captain. Rahane had been out of the Indian squad for nearly 16 months, but his strong performances in domestic cricket and the IPL earned him a comeback for the World Test Championship (WTC) final.

Rahane made the most of the opportunity in the WTC final, scoring 89 runs in the first innings and 46 runs in the second innings, finishing as the highest run-scorer among all Indian batsmen in a losing cause.

However, the decision to reinstate him as vice-captain has received mixed reactions on social media, with some even considering him as a potential replacement for Rohit Sharma, who has faced criticism following India's 209-run defeat against Australia in the WTC final.

Starting on July 12, India is scheduled to embark on a month-long tour, engaging in a series of matches against West Indies. The tour will comprise two Test matches, three ODIs, and five T20Is.
