In a significant development, the BCCI has named two formidable squads for India's upcoming Test and ODI series against West Indies. In a bold move, the selectors have excluded veteran players Cheteshwar Pujara and Umesh Yadav, as the Test squad sees the inclusion of several fresh faces, including the dynamic Yashasvi Jaiswal.

The Test team, led by Rohit Sharma, sees the inclusion of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Yashasvi Jaiswal, with Pujara and Umesh being dropped following their underwhelming performance in the WTC final.

Ishan Kishan finds a place in the team as a specialist keeper alongside KS Bharat, while domestic sensation Sarfaraz Khan continues to be neglected despite performing admirably in the Ranji Trophy.

Talking about the bowling department, the veteran duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja will spearhead India’s spin unit, with Mohammed Siraj leading the pace battery alongside Shardul Thakur, Mukesh Kumar, Navdeep Saini and Jaydev Unadkat.

Coming to the ODI squad, keeper-batter Sanju Samson seems to be in India’s plans, as he has received a recall. The senior players have made it into the team, considering the ODI World Cup scheduled later this year. Despite his repeated sub-par outings, swashbuckling batter Suryakumar Yadav has managed to retain his place in the ODI team.
