The highly-anticipated player draft for the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 got off to a rocky start at the picturesque Huzoori Bagh in Lahore. After being postponed from its original date of January 11, the draft finally commenced with much fanfare. However, technical glitches, including repeated microphone malfunctions, left fans and players in splits and frustration.

The drafting event, hosted by former English pacer Dominic Cork, began this afternoon, but the mood was momentarily dampened when Pakistan’s premier fast bowler and Lahore Qalandars’ captain Shaheen Afridi faced an awkward moment. Afridi was invited to announce the franchise's first pick, but a malfunctioning microphone disrupted his announcement.

This was not an isolated incident, as similar microphone issues occurred throughout the event, prompting widespread commentary on social media. Fans quickly took to Twitter, sharing memes and witty remarks about the recurring technical issues.

So, in this article, take a look at the Twitter reactions and what comments the fans made regarding the event.

Last week, the PCB announced important changes to the player hierarchy for the upcoming PSL draft. The season will begin on April 10 and run until May 25, with the adjustment made due to Pakistan hosting the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. Teams have made strategic decisions, with Islamabad United, Quetta Gladiators, and Lahore Qalandars retaining eight players each, while Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi, and Karachi Kings kept seven.

The PSL's 10th season will overlap with the IPL, but this could ultimately benefit the league, as many overseas players who went unsold in the IPL auction have registered for the PSL draft.
