The International Cricket Ground (ICC) has reportedly rated the Indian pitches that were used during the recently-concluded Test series against New Zealand and Bangladesh. Apparently, the ICC handed out a favorable rating to the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium surface in Chennai for hosting a sporting Test match between India and Bangladesh back in mid-September.

The apex body also handed out quite an unfavorable rating to the outfield of the Green Park in Kanpur, i.e., the venue that hosted the second Test of India’s series against Bangladesh.

As reported by the PTI, the ICC has given a ‘very good’ rating to Chennai’s M. A. Chidambaram Stadium for hosting a sporting contest between India and Bangladesh. However, the outfield of the venue for the very next Test of the series, i.e., the Green Park in Kanpur, has received an ‘unsatisfactory’ rating.

Meanwhile, each of the three venues used during India’s series against New Zealand, i.e., Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy, Pune’s MCA and Mumbai’s Wankhede; have received identical ‘satisfactory’ ratings from the ICC.

Team India, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, routed Bangladesh by a 2-0 margin with wins in Chennai and Kanpur. The Kanpur affair, in fact, reached a verdict in just 173 overs owing to India’s record-breaking match run-rate of 7.36.

India’s high-flying run, however, was hampered by the visiting New Zealanders as the hosts lost their subsequent three-match series by a 0-3 margin. The outcome marked India’s first-ever series whitewash at home, as Rohit Sharma and co. lost some major WTC points in the process.
