India star Rohit Sharma was recently honoured with a special memento by CEAT for leading India to victory in the Champions Trophy 2025. The award was presented during the 27th CEAT Cricket Rating (CCR) Awards held in Mumbai on Tuesday.
The event, hosted by CEAT Tyres, celebrated outstanding performances by cricketers from India and around the world over the past year.
Rohit Sharma stole the spotlight at the ceremony. The 38-year-old captain received the award from legend Sunil Gavaskar for guiding India to the Champions Trophy win earlier this year in Dubai, where India defeated New Zealand in the final. This was Rohit’s second ICC trophy as captain, following India’s T20 World Cup victory in 2024 in Barbados.
The award came at an interesting time for Rohit, as he was recently replaced by Shubman Gill as India’s ODI captain for the upcoming series against Australia. However, Rohit remains part of the squad, along with senior player Virat Kohli, as both are set to return to international cricket after their Champions Trophy win.
International players attend Ceat awards
The CEAT awards night was star-studded, with many top players in attendance, including Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson, and Varun Chakravarthy. International stars Kane Williamson from New Zealand and Temba Bavuma from South Africa were also present and received awards for their performances and leadership.
In the women’s category, India star players Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma were honoured as the Women’s Batter and Bowler of the Year, though they couldn’t attend as they are currently competing in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025.
