Maharaja Trophy T20 League, BB vs MU: Rampant Bengaluru thrash Mangalore in a one-sided affair
The 17th match of the Maharaja Trophy T20 league witnessed Bengaluru Blasters thwack Mangalore United by a comprehensive margin of 66 runs in Mysore. The Mayank Agarwal-led outfit acquired the top spot in the points table with this clinical victory.
Aniruddha Joshi’s late blitz powers Bengaluru to a mammoth total
After being put into bat, Bengaluru Blasters got off to a poor start, losing LR Chethan to Aneeshwar Gautam in the third over.
Then, skipper Mayank Agarwal and Aneesh KV steadied the ship by stitching a vital 74-run stand for the second wicket. While Mayank played a fabulous knock of 47 runs, Aneesh contributed 40 runs off 32 balls before being dismissed by Aditya Somanna.
Joshi was awarded player of the match
However, their dismissals didn’t affect Shivkumar Rakshith and Aniruddha Joshi one bit, as the deadly duo stitched a match-winning stand of 63 runs off just 30 balls for the fourth wicket.
Shivkumar played magnificently for his 24-ball 34, whereas Joshi’s scintillating 57*-run knock played a massive role in powering Bengaluru to 191 runs at the end of 20 overs.
Somanna emerged as Mangalore’s best bowler, scalping one wicket for 19 runs.
Pradeep T and Rishi Bopanna demolish Mangalore
Mangalore never seemed to be controlling the chase as they fell like a pack of cards.
Pradeep T and Rishi Bopanna triggered the collapse, sharing six wickets equally among themselves.
Rishi Bopanna rewarded for his performance
Ravikumar Samarth was Mangalore’s lone warrior with the bat as he stroked a fluent 24-ball 32 before falling prey to Bopanna in the eighth over. Among others, Abhinav Manohar and HS Sharath contributed 23 and 22 runs, respectively, but their efforts could only minimize the margin of defeat.
