In a surprising turn of events, England head coach Brendon McCullum faced an unfortunate incident as he was denied entry into Headingley for the ongoing third Ashes Test. Despite showing his identity, McCullum was stopped by a diligent security guard who refused him access due to an incorrect pass.

According to the British media, the persistent security guard remained unmoved even after being informed of McCullum's identity. Unhappy with the treatment, McCullum became frustrated.

The subsequent events following this incident are still unknown. However, it has been confirmed that McCullum was able to observe the proceedings of the Headingley Test on the first day.

The Headingley Ashes Test had heightened security measures in place due to concerns about potential disturbances from Just Stop Oil activists. On the first day, two individuals were denied entry to the venue after being stopped and searched by security personnel.

The discovery of Just Stop Oil t-shirts worn under their coats, along with suspicious baggage, led to their exclusion from the ground. Recent protests at other sporting events, such as the second Ashes Test at Lord's, Wimbledon and the World Snooker Championship, had put Headingley security officials on high alert.

Turning to the match itself, the third Test between England and Australia is currently finely balanced.

At the end of Day 2, Australia held a lead of 142 runs with six wickets remaining. Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh are currently at the crease, looking to establish a strong partnership.

The outcome of this Test holds significant importance for England, as a victory is crucial to their chances in the five-match series.

As the third day commences, both teams will be determined to gain an advantage. The Australian batters will aim to build a solid partnership, while England will be focused on taking quick wickets.
