A cricket match being halted by public interference is not a new thing. Time and again, it has been observed that fans have jumped off the barricade to meet their favourite players despite the repercussion that awaits them.

However, in the ongoing 2nd Ashes Test match at the iconic Lord's stadium, the game was halted not by a fan, but by two oil protestors.

Watch: Oil Protestors creates chaos

At the start of the second over, which was supposed to be bowled by Stuart Broad, two oil protestors entered the playing field and threw coloured powder on the pitch, trying to disrupt the match between England and Australia. The match was halted for several minutes as Jonny Bairstow took care of the matter and carried one of them off the field.

In fact, the coloured product was rubbed all over Bairstow's jersey and he went off the field to change it.

As of late, the climate crisis protestors have put a stop to several sporting events in England, and also stopped the England cricket team's bus from entering the stadium during the Ireland series, that took place earlier this month.

Talking about the match, England won the toss and they elected to bowl first. Mitchell Starc has come in for Scott Boland, whereas Josh Tongue comes in for injured Moeen Ali.
