In a significant development, the Zimbabwe Cricket Board has unveiled a 16-member squad for the upcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka. While Brendan Taylor makes his comeback to the shortest format after a long hiatus, veteran all-rounder Sean Williams earns a recall following his batting exploits in the ongoing ODI series.
Taylor, Williams Recalled; Madhevere Misses Out
While Brendan Taylor, Sean Williams, Tadiwanashe Marumani and Brad Evans have made a comeback, Zimbabwe have excluded Newman Nyamhuri, Wessly Madhevere, Vincent Masekesa and Tafadzwa Tsiga after they failed in the Tri-Nation T20I series against New Zealand and South Africa.
As expected, veteran batting all-rounder Sikandar Raza has been retained as Zimbabwe's T20I captain. The skipper is expected to play a pivotal role for the Chevrons alongside Brian Bennett, Ryan Burl, the talismanic duo of Taylor and Williams and ace speedsters, Blessing Muzarabani and Richard Ngarava.
Trevor Gwandu, who has been impressive with the ball, has been included as another medium-pace bowling option, while Wellington Masakadza will play as Zimbabwe's frontline spinner in the series.

Zimbabwe lost the two-match ODI series, as Sri Lanka outclassed them across departments on consecutive occasions. After winning the first match by a narrow seven-run margin, the tourists successfully chased a steep target of 278 runs in the subsequent affair, riding on Pathum Nissanka's scintillating ton.
Therefore, they would be keen to bounce back and put up a more valiant effort in the upcoming T20I series, starting on Wednesday, September 3. The Harare Sports Club will host all three matches of the series.
