Ashwin on Sreesanth-Harbhajan saga (Source:@StanMSD/X.com)
The Harbhajan-Sreesanth slapgate controversy of the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League has grabbed attention again after 18 long years. The reason for it is Lalit Modi revealing the entire video of the saga during his interaction with Michael Clarke on the podcast.
Ravi Ashwin Speaks About Futility Of Bringing Out Old Conflicts
Sreesanth's wife and Harbhajan Singh have criticised the move since then, and now Ashwin has also expressed his displeasure on his YouTube Channel. The Indian offie compared the release of the video with the head of Anaconda and claimed that it keeps rising every now and then.
He added that it is not a proud moment for both Sreesanth and Harbhajan Singh, and he doesn't want to address it. He stated that the incident is over, and everyone knows about it, and even mentioned that Harbhajan Singh regretted it. Ashwin added that people do make mistakes in life and they live with it for the rest of the lives.
“It is the head of the Anaconda that keeps on rising. In the modern day and age, footage and videos are everywhere. I just feel it is not a proud moment for both of them. I don’t wish to address too much about it. The incident is over. Everyone knows about it. Harbhajan came to our podcast and spoke about how he felt. Yes, you made a mistake, and you need to live with it for the rest of your life," Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.
Ashwin Emphasises On The Need To Move On
The Indian off-spinner added that one needs to move on, and some people make mistakes at home, but it should not come out to the world. He added that he doesn't want to accuse anyone and added that the less one talks about it, the better it is. However, it is important to understand that whenever one gets a chance, he or she tries to move on.
"But you need to move on, too. Some folks may have done something like this at home and so the outside world would not know about it. I don’t wish to accuse anyone. The less we speak about it, the better. Anyone who makes a mistake, when they get a chance to move on, they take that chance."
Thus, Ravichandran Ashwin has clearly stated that he doesn't want to dig out old issues and respect the privacy of both the players. He has also clarified that there is no point in bringing up an 18-year-old incident out now and emphasised on the need to move on.
