The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Wednesday shared a revised schedule for the remaining matches of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL 2025-26). Under the updated plan, the Chattogram phase has been removed entirely, while the Sylhet phase has been extended until January 12.

A senior BCB official confirmed that the country’s only franchise-based T20 competition will now take place only in Sylhet and Dhaka. As part of this adjustment, Chattogram will no longer serve as a host venue.

Chattogram dropped from hosting list as league enters revised phase

Earlier plans had Sylhet hosting matches until January 2, followed by the Chattogram leg from January 5 to January 12. With the new arrangement in place, the tournament will shift directly to Dhaka once the Sylhet phase concludes, with matches in the capital beginning on January 15.

Another important change involves fixtures that were meant to be played on December 30. Those games were suspended after the passing of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia. The BCB has now rescheduled those matches for January 4, allowing the competition to stay on track while respecting the national period of mourning.

BPL member secretary Iftekhar Rahman Mithu explained the thinking behind the revised schedule, pointing to multiple factors that influenced the move.

"The Bangladesh team are set to depart on 26th and we need to give the national team some time with the coaches before they depart," he told The Daily Star. Alongside this, logistical challenges linked to moving the tournament to Chattogram played a role in shaping the final plan.

While the matchdays themselves remain unchanged, the updated fixture list introduces new combinations of venues and travel routines.

Notably, Sylhet Titans will now play nine of their ten league-stage matches at their home ground in Sylhet. In contrast, Chattogram Royals will complete their final three league games consecutively in Dhaka.

BPL playoffs and final

The timeline for the playoffs remains intact. The Eliminator and Qualifiers will be played on their originally planned dates, and the final is still set for January 23. According to the revised itinerary, Sylhet International Stadium will host matches until January 12. Following that, the action will move to the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur from January 15 onward.

The Eliminator will take place on January 19, followed later the same day by the first Qualifier in a double-header. After a rest day, the second Qualifier will be played on January 21, leading into the final two days later.
